>>649264376It's a person. A fertilized egg is going to be born, God willing, and therefore it's a person. The argument over abortion is not over whether something is made of flesh or has a heartbeat, it's really about a person. Abortion is preventing a person that has already begun. Abortion is interference, interruption, meddling.
The boundary is philosophical, and thus cannot be measured.
>>649264605This guy says a fetus is a parasite. That's where he draws the line. He's not wrong per se, but this boundary is drawn short, because this "parasite" is going to be a person. The value is quite different.
>>649262868This guy says one must look to a higher power to find whether it is wrong or right. This is drawn too far, because we have all the capacities ourselves to come to a conclusion. However, he is correct that it is all relative. That fact is inescapable. But as a society, we set boundaries to restrict who is accepted or denied shelter in our society.
My stance is that abortion is a technology that we have discovered and must use wisely, just like every other technology. The morality of killing a person is the same as interrupting a fetus's development. I believe that abortion is one of the last options anyone should consider. The baby could be anything, including a very helpful family member, just as an enemy could be converted to an ally. However, an enemy that absolutely threatens one's survival and cannot be avoided must be eliminated. A baby probably will not threaten anyone's survival to this degree, and that is why abortion is unwise.
