Help

I currently work a shitty job, I'm gonna be joining the military soonish and gaining some skills through that. But the military is something I want to do and experience for a while anyway.

My question is what can I do now to help myself in the future? Is there anything? For example would buying books and studying things not on a course offer any advantage?

I have no real idea what I want to go into but I am smart. I know that with a real focused effort there's not much academically I couldn't do.

Areas of interest are public speaking, psychology, I like history. I just don't know what degrees have good job prospects and therefore don't know what to study now.

For example when I was 14 , I was put on an early access trial/course to do an RE exam early and got an A*. Now say RE is a poor subject all you want it just goes to prove that I have/had the skills to write an A* test anyway.

Anyone offer any insight? Kinda bummed out right now

>be me
>study business
>doing well, good grades, etc
>make some youtube-tutorials where I explain things for students. Discounted cash flows, basic tax laws, accounting etc

later:

>get job interview by phone, consulting firm
>doing breddy gud
>at the end I bring up my videos
>"to give a sort of demonstration of how I could talk to a client I could direct you to some online tutorials I've made"
>recruiter sounds uneasy, laughs it off

Did I fug up?

Hey biz, I have been thinking about creating a business for awhile and finally have the ability to finance it.

The idea is basically a party planning service where I will rent out various establishments (pub crawl busses, event centres, community centres, and if it kicks off ski resorts an the like) and hype them up on a Facebook and a website I will pay to create.

I got the idea when I went to "teen dances" when I was younger and noticed they where literally filling large event centres so the market is definetly here.

I am new to this whole game so I am wondering how this sounds so far, and if there is anything I am forgetting.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Happening?

This is the first Happening thread I've ever posted, but after the market reaction to today's Fed decision and the delicate commodity moves, something really seems to be stirring. Futures are down across the board. The Nikkei opened high and quickly went red. Feels very toppy after these big gains over the last several trading days. Time for a correction?

Would you rather work a job that pays $50,000 and has healthcare, PTO, retirement etc, or a job that pays $100,000 and has zero benefits?
