Should I apply for both an internship and an entry-level position at the same company at the same time?

It seems like they would simply default to the lesser of the two, even if I qualify for the hired position.

I'm new to white collar work. I have learned all I know about business in less than six month's time--at least beyond the level of basic accounting.

Technically, I'm an office manager. I am also the HR contact. Additionally, I have come to the realization that I am also the personal assistant to the president and owner of the company I work for. I have access to a lot of information, and from what I've seen I'm not sure if everything he's doing is legal.

Apart from the fact that he's a total dick who sticks his nose in everything while assuming the worst in people, he's an absolute hypocrite.

>has a strict policy on interoffice relationships

He hired a woman last year and I recently found out they're dating--I'm unsure for how long this has been the case. He had purchased an apartment for her (for ~$300,000 EUR) earlier this year. He has put her in charge of numerous departments, and there has been (not surprisingly) some resistance.

The man uses the company as his personal bank account, not only using his company's money for personal bills straight-up, but travel expenses for himself, his girlfriend & family, and more. He also pays himself regular wages.

Funny thing that happened with my wages (I have seen this happen to others as well)...I worked over 40 hours last week. I receive my pay-stub this week, and all of those hours are recorded under "regular hours" --there is a row for "overtime hours," which had goose eggs across the board. I don't think this is legal.

Beyond this, he's pissed me off numerous times otherwise, I don't like the shit my co-workers have seemingly put up with for years--not that that's the president's fault, necessarily (I have come to decide he must have a seriously small penis), and I wouldn't mind helping him back down to Earth.

Thoughts?

College student here, graduating soon. Recently received an internship offer at a top firm. Industry leading pay, high retention rate, prestigious, praised training programs. Of course I'm going to accept.

But I feel like I'm signing my soul into wage slavery. Long hours, little work/life balance, endless assignments. I feel kinda shitty knowing the next 40 years of my life will be a desk and a stack of paper for 60+ hrs a week, even if I jump to a new company in a few years after padding my resume and experience. How do you veteran wageslaves manage corporate life? Any advice on maintaining happiness and comfort? How do people manage long work weeks?

Hey guys on biz..
Just a general question about the atmosphere of this board after floating around for a half a year i'd say.

Why is it filled with so many negative assholes and negative energy. Nobody can have an open mind about any business post because there's always a shit head who has to prove how much better he is then everyone else. Or disprove someone elses goals.

Is every board like this or is this just the general trend for Biz?

Ex: The 9-5 post earlier this week and last. Just constant shit heads shitting on OP for not being a wage slave and saying he's a NEET etc etc trying to push how shitty their lives were onto him/her, it fucking blows my mind.

Where there's one true opinion there's 3 other negative pricks that literally provide nothing to the discussion.

Is this just 18 year olds graduating thinking they have the whole world figured out or what?

What should I do to make a lot of money in 10 years, 20 years, etc?
What should I specifically invest in?
Or just what do in general?

Student Loan Debt

How much were your student loans over 4 years of your undergrad?

My total loan amount will be around $60k, which includes my tuition, food, parking, car insurance, fuel, and vehicle maintenance as well as my car payments.

I'll be working during university, including the Summers, and Winter breaks, as well as internships/co-ops, so I expect to earn around $150,000 over my 5 years of school and my 12 month grace free period on my loans, which means I'll have around $90,000 in savings before I even start job hunting / working.

What about you lot, how much did you have in student debt, and how much were you able to save during college/university.

Gravity Payments
>$70k equal pay for all
>CEO claims revenue and profits doubled
>CEO also mortgaged his home and sold all "investment assets" to inject $3mil capital into his "thriving" business
>(side note)CEO being sued by his minority shareholder brother for over compensation of $1mil/yr before CEO cut his own pay to $70k

Everyone claiming it's working even though CEO had to throw $3mil back into the company and is only making $70k/yr. Thoughts?
