Use something like >>936229 said. Teespring and Spreadshirt both work.

Make your own website (don't use their shitty storefronts) and create proper branding then once you get consistent sales, find a *local* shirt printer and package + mail them yourself. Just use the 3rd party site to get started and test the market.

Making a website is literally the cost of a domain and hosting ($10 or less for the first month in most cases)

He could just use one of their storefronts if he just wants to make a few $100, but if you have a traffic source you might as well milk it as much as possible.
