Green card recipient here, I'll be moving to USA in a few months. I have around $20k in savings which should last me enough to find a place to stay. I still have no idea where to go.

>white, 22, average looking but presentable, fluent English with no detectable accent
>no formal education above high school
>work experience in computer repair
>amateur programmer with a large github portfolio

I plan on starting from the bottom, working somewhere near minimum wage (Walmart, McDonald's etc) and I'll probably enroll in a school of some sort in the first year. I'm thinking CS but I'll be fine with a trade if I can't afford a CS degree. Sales also interest me but I'm not sure if I'm fit for that yet.
Where do I move?
>urban place between 100k and 1m people
>relatively low crime
>not many niggers if possible
>not a lot of commuting (<1 hour)
Any suggestions?

Is there some sort of guide for this? I need an American taxes for dummies guide (because, holy fuck, so much of that shit). Any general tips for someone who is just gonna land there with zero street smarts and common knowledge? Apartments with roommates for example, where do I search for them? Craigslist? Do minimum wage employers do your taxes or do you do them yourself? What about basic common sense laws that are just taken for granted?
There has to be some sort of guide for retarded 18yo Americans that I can take advantage of.
