A million doesn't really buy that much. You can't even retire on it. With inflation and the inability to invest... it sounds like a very very raw deal. Any able bodied human in a western country should be able to make that much equivalent several times over in their lifetime even doing menial labor.

If the million was handed to me right now in cash, yes.

It's easily enough for me to live the rest of my life on in a nice little house innawoods.

The only stuff I'd need to buy would be the house (less than 100K), food for a couple months, and tools and parts to become completely self sustainable.

Probably less than 200K setup.

Let's say another 100K over the course of 50 years for fuel and replacements for chainsaws to cut down my own firewood.

Do whatever with the other 700K.
Easily enough to travel to every corner of the world for a few weeks/months at a time.

Oh, and 1M won't last long, even if you live in backwoods shit hole America. Once you hit your 60's medical and health insurance expenses are going to snowball... Health insurance can easily run you 10k a year and any hospital stay will ding you 100k easy. And this is not even adjusting for inflation for the next 60 years.

If you expect to live 50 more years, then 1MM is an income of 200K a year. That is a multiple of what most people will make. On the face of it, this is a very good deal.

However, you are exposed to inflation risk. You need to make money to offset inflation risk. You are not allowed to make money.

This means you can either gamble on money not devaluing too far, or buy the things you need for life and then use the rest.

You might be able to buy an inflation tracking annuity, although I'm not sure what you can get at 25.
