>>938086My two cents is that Java was slowly induced into higher education for means of teaching classes and OOP. More and more institutions picked it up and mid-2000's and you have a generation of people educated on it and ready to use it in job markets.
There are thousands of languages..why some get picked up more than others in mainstream or niches, who knows...They are either tailored for teh probelm solving or something as simple as the aformentioned. Because, Java, inherently isn't BEST suited for mainstream I don't think but yet its there.
