Does anyone on /biz/ have any experience making money off of those online fantasy draft sites like Draftkings or Fanduel?
Obviously there is money to be made there, they have those commercials with people who have made like $2M off it. Those guys are probably putting a ton of time and effort into it and know what they're doing, but on the other hand, it is a zero-sum game and with the amount of advertising they've been pushing, I would think there would be a lot of chumps who just pick their favorite players every week.
I know a thing or two about statistics, it seems like it would be pretty easy to come up with a rudimentary algorithm that could beat some fat guy on his couch. Thing is, there's clearly a lot of room for refinement and those guys who are making hundreds of thousands who know what they're doing could probably beat me.
Has anyone participated in these things, either for profit or just for fun? Is making fairly assured, moderate profits with a bit of knowledge doable?
The lack of institutional investors and mass advertising to unskilled fans gives me the impression this might be a good option, I don't even really care about football.
