What are some financial moves you should make when you turn 18? Im financially naive, just turned 18 and have $1000 in savings. I have a job and attend community college. Any financial suggestions are appreciated.

When it comes to education: try it before you buy it.

Wanna study accounting? Go shadow an accountant for 2 weeks.

Wanna study business? Go shadow a CEO for 2 weeks

Wanna be a vet? Go shadow a vet for 2 weeks

After 2 weeks of doing something for free, you still wanna do it. Go get the degree.

Live with your parents while you start your career.
Get a STEM degree in the field you hate the least.

Either buy a house with your parents help as a co-signer, or buy a foreclosure and hope that its not a complete piece of shit and rent it out. If you cant do this, build your credit. Take either the past of credit building, or build your collateral. Bonus points for renting this property out and continuing to live with your parents.

Just avoid any and all debt. It's true that financing your education can be considered "good debt" but only if you have a decent career and are actively paying off your debt. Making life choices with debt vs not having any debt can be very different.

A lot of people thing it's stupid to be really frugal, but that's because most of the population is in debt and they get envious over someone else not having any debt.
