I'm currently in the middle of changing careers. I've taken steps to complete my Real Estate Trading Services exam to become a licensed real estate agent in Canada. I've done quite a bit of research, reading up industry reports provided by both the Real Estate Association and third party world reports on residential and commercial real estate.

I'm thinking of working my way towards owning my own brokerage firm OR starting a company that purchases and sell land for a profit.

tl;dr how long will it take and how difficult will it be for a person to start their own real estate brokerage or a firm that specialize in buying and selling land? Any useful and relevant tips?
