As somebody who does the same thing (I spent $10 on two shirts for myself last week after probably over a year of not having bought myself any new clothes), I think it's just how some people are wired. Not buying things make me feel better than buying things.

Other thing I forgot to mention; starting at age 16 I started making my room into a weeb cave, and now I have cute hypercolor shit and anime posters everywhere. It is the fucking dream. Also I now live in plastic hell and
own figures.

Not pictured is ages 18-19 where I was super bright color accents with tons of buttons on my bag (basically like the itabag thread now but without the focus on one specifc thing).

Also at age 13 I went though a shoplifting phase and probably stole like $100 worth of drugstore makeup over the course of a year because my parents wouldn't give me money to buy any. I stopped after a friend of mine got caught at Sephora with like $75 of shit in her bag and almost got arrested.

I have so much I'm meant to be doing but instead I did this.

I really value being taken seriously as an adult, but now if I visit my hometown, people that knew me when I was a teenager say things like "oh wow you're wearing jeans? You look so boring lolol where are your crazy clothes". I think it's giving me a complex.

10- Little weeb that wanted to look goth. Couldn't because mummy and daddy wouldn't allow it. Had to make do with just a single black sweater. Wouldn't be seen without it.

13- got some leniency from parents allow me how to dress. Take it and run. Try to dress like an oc. Wore converse with skirts, scarves in the middle of summer. Hair influenced by hinata

16- Wanted to be lolita but was too poor, had to make do with that found in thrift stores.

19- realize I wouldnt be able to afford lolita so settled with dressing like pedobait loli.

current- give up on fashion. Don't care because NEET Hikikomori

I'm curious, what area are you from and how did people respond to you being scene?

my buds in cali say that it was the coolest thing and the scene girls were pretty wanted, but where I'm from people just avoided us like the plague

I kind of just wore whatever when I was really young until I went through my scene phase. I pretty much only shopped at hot topic and claire's then. I cosplayed from Naruto and I'm glad there are no pictures.

I went through a lot of phases growing up. It's mostly just me going back and forth between caring and not caring about how I look. While I like how I looked, I think shaving my head was probably one of the worst things I did because it took FOREVER to grow back. I'm pretty content with how I look now, and the profession I'm going into is very alt. fashion friendly. So I'm happy.

Different anon but I'm currently a NEET. It's a result of graduating college and then having some health issues and then getting slammed with severe depression. I'm getting my shit back together slowly though, it's pretty cool to have the energy to do things and slowly get ambitious again.

I'm mostly a shut in, but i go to university, work at home and in otome/lolita/random jfash the few times i go out, usually alone rarely with a friend. It's a bit hard to overcome this in your 20s, being a social person when most of your life were a hikki is hard mode.
