oh alright, the heater makes it better.
def eating with a blanket on and a heater under said blanket sounds heavenly.
downside is you prob end up having to wash the poor blanket a lot, so they probably get faded quickly.
doesn't make me want one any less tho. i need one for every room.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small sewing area? I'm trying to make due with this cubby, but it sucks for big projects. I have to move everything down to the common room in my apartment and steal the tables.

(Also does anyone have pictures of cute fabric storage? I've googled it before and there are some neat looking ideas, but a lot are geared more towards quilting fabric, not multiple yard cuts.)

Stuffed animals and dolls are fine, it's mostly the giant bear decal that's freaky. Just because it was free doesn't mean you have to keep it. I actually like the mint walls but they're a little overwhelming, maybe paint 1-2 walls cream to break it up a bit. It's not really that cute at all right now, mostly because you have near zero decorations (not counting the toys). Put washi tape along your shelves, get cute hooks and hang up necklaces, get some cheap cute framed art from ikea, anything.

It always confuses me on how all these pictures never have any shelves. I own a lot (really a lot) of books and when I move out I'll take all of them with me, but I never see ideas for cute bookshelves... Only shelves that fit 3 books and that's it.

I have a small space and I'm always on the lookout for ideas to maximize it.
Looking at your pic, I have a couple ideas on how to get more out of what you have.

Consider a fold-out table so you can have more of a tabletop to work with. (can't tell if it'll work with your space from the pic)
Since you're limited on tabletop space, try using wall space. They make mountable thread racks and hanging shelves/containers for you to keep notions on. You can also hang shears and scissors up on a hook. The other anon's idea to store fabric in a wall magazine holder is a good idea, too. You could get some wall shelves and keep fabric on it like pic related.

I'll post more pictures from my inspiration folder that will hopefully give you some ideas.

Thanks for the ideas! I will definitely check out Pinterest and try to find some wall stuff. I was already on the lookout for a spool holder, but I didn't think to find a wall mounted one. Good call.

yeah i guess i'm just having an identity crisis because i love the minimal look but i also love the clutterbug kawaii shit. I just really want to blend the two.
I think maybe if i had a room like this and put my plushes on the bed it'd look okay. Considering selling my figures because it's just getting so hard to decorate around them.

I think if you want to go minimal style. Consider rotating out things you have on display. A friend of mine would rotate them out in specific themes. Like for summer he'd have the beach themes ones, then come fall he'd switch to school uniforms.

That way you avoid over cluttering stuff, and you can try new themes.

I personally just keep them on a regular bookshelf that i also keep trinkets on and share with my bfs music equipment. I like being able to mix color schemes and create interest with things besides books. besides that i'd saw paint your shelves. the only other thing i can think of is that in high school one of my friends kept her books in this shelfl that was more like a collection of cubbies and each cubby had a different color binding for the book. it looked great but idk if you could find a shelf like that

i also keep other stuff on the shelves with my books, but these room threads never have any real inspiration that includes large bookshelves, so i'm just kind of fumbling around with organizing things. right now i try to organize by genre (costuming, science, fiction novels, nonfiction, cookbooks, etc), but i have a LOT of fucking books. i moved cross country a few years ago and realized easily 60-70% of my stuff was boxes of books.

right now most of my books are in a couple of ikea kallax units (the cube ones, a 2x2 and a 2x4) plus a small 2 row bookshelf in my room, but i still have a lot in boxes.

ideally someday i'll devote an entire room in my home to books, but for now inspiring bookshelf pics, please?
