>>8676150There was an incident at an event they held called the Holiday Mascarade at FIU. The club's president got into an altercation with another student(a girl) who reported the altercation, and campus security escorted the president away, and began an audit of the club.
Basically, FIU has a rule that student organizations must be comprised of no less than 50% of their members. When the club was audited, they realized the club was highly populated by non-students (FIU alumni, highschool students, YasumiCon volunteers, etc.) and the club was cut off from funding for violation of this rule. Many of the older members were forced to leave suddenly, and with the club's president unable to perform their duties (due to being removed from his possition due to his conduct) left the club in shambles.
FIU North's club was contacted about taking over YasumiCon, but the same audit was applied to the North's club (Biscayne Bay's Japanese Animation & Culture Club, or BBJACC) and they didn't have the ability to take up the huge task of running YasumiCon.
YasumiCon died at Mizucon 2010, with a small booth at the convention, never to return. AGA was disbanded shortly after, due to their administration falling apart. A new FIU Anime Club (Anime etc.) and an offshoot group of AGA non-student members became the short-lived SMAC (South Miami Anime Club).
Lesson: all it takes is one domino to fall to destroy something beautiful. Anything Goes Anime Club was the greatest Anime group South Florida had :(
