I was just offered 10 dollars for a shoot at an upcoming convention. I am disgusted.

It's because of you shit photographers who do shit work, kiss cosplayers' asses and shoot for laundry money.

Shit photographers, what you should be doing, is assisting good photographers and learning. Not grabbing your ankles for any cosplayer that will say yes to a shoot with you.

If i pay you, and i mean pay, not the 10$ shit. I expect the results to be fucking mine to do with whatever i please, as i fucking paid for the product.

If however, you pay me or anyone else to model for you, then ofc the rights to do with the photos are yours. Basicly, whoever pays the shoot, keeps the rights.

Or are you a photog and you were offered 10 dollars?

Or you were offered a shoot where you pay 10 dollars by a shitty photographer?

When someone pays a photographer, they're paying for the service of my taking the best photos I know how. The photographer always owns the photographs, unless the parties work out an agreement for copyright transference too.

I would never book a photographer without looking at their portfolio. I think photographers are going through what cosplayers went through 10 years ago, where many of them offered commissions, and people wanted to pay China labor prices (less than $100) for a full armor costume. Stupid people will stupid. Get used to it photogs, as a cosplayer I get these jokers asking for a Halo costume with a budget of $75 ALL THE TIME.

Videographer here. The vast majority of photographers i meet and sadly i meet a fuck ton, are incredibly arrogant and think overly highly of their work.

The few diamonds in the rough that produce interesting and original work are more often than not softly spoken with little to no regard for other peoples opinons.

In short if your shit is good enough you will find someone willing to pay good money for it. If its not... you will be offered $10 to shoot cosplayers on your iphone6

I mean, on one hand it wouldn't be too much of a surprise since a handful of cosplayers are high schoolers or college freshmen on a tight as shit budget. So not too surprised you were given a small budget.

On another hand, that's incredibly small and it sucks that the competition is drowning in photographers and fauxtographers that either charge or don't charge and you just don't know what you'll find so lowballing a potentially good photog will happen.
