Even if it were overrated Baja is still better than 90% of the regions of Mexico. Still has the best tacos, seafood, beer, cheese, wine and street food in Mexico. It only lacks a mole culture, but it has more a lot to offer than most states with a strong regional cuisine.

My family is Mexican (from Jalisco) but I wish we knew more about Mexican food from other parts of the country. We're trying to document our family recipes and know stuff has been lost since our great grandma, some very region specific recipes.

>no more minty rice
>no more fish soup

We haven't been able to recreate the fish soups (cant find the right fish and American carrots are sweeter than the carrots they used), and my mom doesn't really know how to recreate any of the watercress based foods.

According to her though we've gotten close to nailing the minty rice.
