Does /ck/ like grits?

Britfag here, had grits for the first time this week and it was pretty good. I had grits with lobster, cornbread and a little lobster bisque on the side. What are some good things I could put with grits?

Best way to cook them imo is to cook them in milk and vigorously stir in butter and black pepper when they're done and off the heat.

Goes great with scrambled eggs and pork breakfast sausage along with a glass of orange juice.

Pic off google doesn't really do it justice.

OP here. Only had it once, but what I had was like a slightly more textured mash potato, similar to porridge. But savoury and very rich, clearly had a serious amount of butter.

Did you have that IN the UK??

The reason I ask is that then at least I know I can find grits and the ingredients for cornbread there if I get transferred there by my company.

Also, I have a fantastic recipe for baked garlic-cheese grits if you like. It's also sometimes called souffle grits.
Grits are great for breakfast when it's dead cold outside. Just a little salt and some nice creamy butter is all it needs for a warming breakfast.

Yes I had it in the UK. Although it was in a restaurant. Ive never seen grits in a shop. You can order it online in UK though.

Ahhh, well that's good to know that I can order the ingredients online. My company has threatened (jk) on several occasions to transfer me to the UK, and being originally from Texas, I'm duly worried about being able to find my favorite foods. ;)

Also, shrimp and grits is a classic of southern cooking. Everyone has their own recipe, with their own tweaks, but it's delicious.

It would be great with pork, especially loin or tenderloin.

Well, the company has several sectors in the UK, I think the main place they wanted to send me was Bristol. There's also London, but frankly I don't relish the thought of spending so much just to live there.

Im from Bristol (currently living there again), having just moved back from London. Bristol often features in 'Best Places to Live in UK' surveys and is a really cool place. Although I only managed to do a year in London and Im desperate to move back. London is incredible.

I've had belly pork with polenta before, althought the polenta wasnt in 'grits' consistency. But either way they are both cornmeal, so perhaps that could work.

Cook the grits, set them aside. Cook the shrimp in a pan with some garlic and butter. Add to the grits. Deglaze with a dry wine or your choice of deglazer, and drizzle that shit over the top. Add some cheese if desired (I'm not a huge fan of cheese in shrimp n' grits, personally.)
