I thought hipsters were now pretending to like balanced beers and IPA was a sign of a barbaric adolescence that we Americans are long past in our Craft Beer Renaissance™ (™ yes, and even ® but never AOC, that is luddite protectionism!)
I remember trying to get reasonable stuff in the beer aisle years ago and it was impossible. Not so much anymore, thanks neckbeers for coming around.
It's funny because the overreaction against bombastic Big Uhmmeerrican wines peaked what seems like ages ago, and even the most uptight, fad-chasing wine drinkers have now been embracing ripeness and elevated alcohol levels again for some time.
It's telling how Craft Neckbeers are always relying on someone else to tell you what's cool, always behind the times, waiting for mainstream, because god forbid you try new experiences.
People should just drink what they like, but then, Craft Neckbeers kind of people who only drink beer (and I mean literally - ONLY drink beer at the exclusion of all other drinks) because deep down you don't like alcoholic beverages at all, and you chose beer because it seems like the most socially acceptable, least likely to get you beat up by the jocks that still live in your head, since high school or perhaps even before.
People who always liked beer to begin with (thus not having to call it CRAFT beer), also tended to like other things. That is to say, many styles of beer, but also many other beverages.
