I didn't notice that either. Hell, the only characters I actually saw die on-screen were Time Baby, his army, and the monster who got eaten. Everything else I had to hear about on /co/.

If they want this to be an apocalypse with a death toll, why can't they put all the deaths in plain sight? This blink-and-you-miss-it shit irks me. I thought all the actual citizens of Gravity Falls were spared, and if the show had made it clear that this isn't the case, it would've really amped up the dramatic tension.

Probably because lingering on shots of people dying removes the plausible deniability that lets them get away with it.

After all, the art instructor could just be "unconscious". The Time Police could have "activated their watches at the last second and escaped" before Bill's beam hit them. (I suspect that one might actually be true, going by how they vanished instantly.) The guys in the car that went into Loius CK's mouth could have "survived" due to "magic reasons".

As soon as you start showing obvious, violent human deaths for more than a blink of an eye, you risk the rating shooting up to PG.
