Though why would Aliens be better than Ghosts? Shouldn't supernatural spiritual ghosts be more better than sciencey evolutionary dimensional beings? Does that imply Jesus was an alien?

All of the initial villains were definitively ghosts that had previous past lives that were mentioned in some form or other.

As time went by, the show dropped those references to their past lives and all newly introduced villains were portrayed as the inhabitants of the Ghost Zone.
