You need a power source that would probably do for everything currently running on Earth, and it needs to fit in your hand and be light enough to lift and wave around, and that's before you get to the actual mechanics of how that power source should produce a field capable of cutting through almost anything with minimal resistance.
But you have a problem with the space wizards surviving wounds that should have killed them.
Remember that time Obi-Wan cut off some guy's arm in a bar SO HARD that it changed species in mid air?
How about that time Jabba the Hutt had a plasticine model of a monster under his chair and it ate people? No? What about the time that Han and Leia had to travel slower than the speed of light between star systems, not because FTL is impossible in our universe, but because their FTL drive was fucked and they needed to go somewhere to make repairs?
