They themselves said it had to be vague because the exec's wouldn't allow it. If you can't do it how it should be done, why bother doing it? It's only gonna bring down the rest of the show over how stupid it comes off. Either take the risk and do it or don't do it. I wouldn't have cared if they ended up together had been done right, but instead comes off as pandering. And why Asami? Quite the coincidence they both turn out to be lesbians discovering their sexuality.

But there's too many constraints for it to be properly done. Try and show that Korra and Asami developed a romantic relationship without ever showing it. It's like you wanna make a picture that's blue but you're not allowed to use the colour blue. If people's reaction is "Wait, they're together?" then you failed to get your message across because you didn't give enough for the audience to go on. Most of the time in season 4 they weren't even together, let alone the most of the series. Most times they were both doing their own thing with little communication between the two of them. They don't even really solidify their friendship till season 3 where they bother escape from the Earth kingdom zeppelin. Till then they kinda stay away from each other due to the whole Mako love triangle of season 1 and 2.

You know the old saying "Show, don't tell?" Well the Korra, Asami romance up was "Don't show, don't tell" much like the old US army policy of "Don't ask, don't tell" which was also about not promoting homosexuality.

I felt they showed it in a gradual way. Over the course of a season or two, all of Korra's other friends are busy dealing with other things or acti like jerks. Meanwhile Asami is there to be supportive and a general good friend, leading to them becoming closer, making sudden romance more plausible.

Not saying that the relationship was done well, but yes they mentioned that they sent letters to each other before season 4 started and when they finally united the team again it was usually Asami and Korra in a pair with the brother fucking around with some other shit (was actually hoping for a brother v. brother scene) maybe some of that cheesy flash back shit(like with lisa vs. bart) would've been nice, but the brothers were basically shafted(side from some romance stuff) in season 4 for Korra, Asami, the NEW characters and the villain
