Homestuck began in '09, Cascade was four years ago in '11, and since then the comic has been in a slow but steady and almost entirely uninterrupted decline in quality.
Act 6 is larger than the rest of the comic combined, and has lasted twice as long. Which is a problem because Act 6 is incredibly boring, bloated and poorly written. And I'm convinced that it's entirely to do with Hussie's 2kool4skool attitude and his obsession with his worst characters and creations.
The Alpha Kids were an absolutely horrible introduction to the story. Two fucking years of updates and their only meaningful development was "that one time when they entered the game and also didn't die". Literally everything else has been nothing but complaining about their relationship drama, and conspicuous amounts of absolutely nothing happening, nothing about their shitty relationships, nothing about their session (which admittedly all they can really do is wait), and most appallingly, nothing about the fucking evil fish dictator that not only tried to kill them, but previously succeeded in doing so.
Plus there's Gamzee in all of his shitty pointless glory. Caliborn and his shitty boring nature as a villain and shitty 'meta commentary, so meta, wow', Calliope and her boring upbeat fatalism. And of course we can't forget all of the original characters that we spent so long with having all of their development thrown into a fucking bin as random shit happened to them off-screen and previously important shit got binned for no readily apparent reason apart from the author's goddamn whims.
