>>77007145Before the war to end the world, a mutagen broke out and heavily affected the population of Neitherland. Those that were lucky were asleep, unconscious, or drugged when they got hit with the mutagen spreading throughout the country.
Those "lucky" ones mutated into random antro-forms of animals, or sometimes full out animals with a human brain and human speech. The unlucky ones were the ones who got infected while awake, who turn into Shoggoth-like beings of teeth, claws, and many eyes. A very select few are "immune" to the mutagen, but they're probably just as unlucky as the anthros because : everyone's jealous they kept their human-looks, they don't get any new traits like anthros do ( brute strength, speed, etc) , and the "pure" humans who survived the war and mutagen loathe them as well and take pleasure in torturing them for being able to survive without a suit.
Speaking of which, what few survivors there are, there's a group of highly advanced soldiers armed with energy weapons that kill in one small touch to any part of the body, almost unbreakable suits, and an army of robots who hunt down any living being which has come into contact with the mutagen in the hopes of purging it and the carriers from the world, in order to finally cleanse the wastes and live as free humans without wearing a suit all their lives.
That's the basis of the setting, and I don't want to explain the arcs in the comic out of fear of spoiling them, but it's a very good comic. Though it starts off a bit slow, it really picks up and keeps ramping up the pace from there.
Though one character will ruin the suspense later on, but they thankfully don't do it again afterwards. I can highly recommend reading it, it's really damn enjoyable to go through, even when reading it a second time.
