When gangnam style came out, people knew it was a fad. They knew it would go away. They were sick of it almost as soon as they found it, but they knew it was temporary.
It generally went "Oh look. gangnam style is on 4chan now. Oh now tumblr found it. Oh now Oprah's doing it. Oh, now it's being featured in trailers for B-list cgi cartoon movies. It's going away soon, right?"
Same for listing URLs. People who didn't have internet, and that was most people at the time, couldn't even ponder what URLs were for, let alone their worth. This was back when people would always say "doubleyoudoubledoubleyoudot" at the beginning of all of them, and that didn't go away for years.
