The problem is the rewards, you don't even get to see the movie until you pledge over $100. Also it is just a pitch that may not even get picked up. If they had a studio on board already and the kickstarter was just to gauge fan interest this would be funded in a flash.

It really shouldn't be surprising, the entire point of Kickstarters like this and Swat Katz are to mostly show investors/companies that there is interest in something like this and convince them to give them the actual money needed to fully develop it

I would love to see a Dragon's Lair movie, but I don't trust these chuckle fucks to do it. One guy keeps calling it Dragon Lair's, and no one seems terribly excited beyond "this is an awesome idea". They need someone who gets shit done, and they need to make it a better pitch for some guys trying to sell a pitch, for a video game movie no less. That shit is box office poison.

I'd love to see Don Bluth do a new movie, but this is a huge gamble with very limited payoff potential.

Animation has always been a relatively expensive process, especially if you want to make it look good.

Inflation wise, a $70 million pic would put it in the same ballpark as The Lion King.

I think this has at least a slightly better chance of getting picked up than The Goon.

The Goon would be an R rated movie, which is a really hard sell for animation. Dragon's Lair will probably be PG at most.
DL is a fairly mainstream classic IP, whereas Goon is a bit more obscure.
And Don Bluth is attached, a famous animator who's made several hit movies in the past.

Oh, it was the best version at the time for a home system. Not saying it wasn't.

Just saying in retrospect it was nothing. Very cut down from the arcade, etc. At the time I thought it was great. A lot of older games don't hold up over time, just this one is fairly disappointing.

Of course, if you want your Dragon's Lair fix now you can play the same as it was in the arcade easily.
