>>76989918TTG is cynical, meta, self aware and tries really hard to be a gag-filled slapstick comedy.
But then episodes like Fourth Wall (Batman Forever, Teen Titans OG, OG Season 6) and 40% (a love letter to the 80s) come out and show that the creators haven't lost sight of the fact that cartoons used to be campy and fun without having to be stupid and post-ironic.
They also throw in references to ponies and portray the villains as generally reasonable people, effectively lampshading the fact that they actually don't mind a little bit of optimism or genuinely decent characters.
It's actually really sad when you realize how those aspects of the show would never have been thrown in if the staff didn't actually respect the way cartoons use be allowed a measure of seriousness before the MacFarlanization of television made GOOFY CYNICAL META HUMOR the answer to all ratings hungry shows.
>mfw we'll never see any dank toons like Cybersix, Gargoyles, Megas or Titans '03 ever again>mfw TTG knows that feel
