I meant the English opening is the bad one. The German one is basically the original Japanese intro with German lyrics, I have no idea why they changed it for the US version.

That and the fact that the US release was heavily edited and censored, probably. They tried to advertise it as edgier than Pokemon and yet removed every reference to characters dying, took out all the Koromon pooping jokes, and all the scenes where the kids were naked.

Recently I learned Funimation owns a 24 hour anime channel, but like AT&T U-verse is the only significant cable company to carry it.

I like how anime uses existing songs a lot of the time, and makes a video to fit it.

X-Men Evolution was weird about this, since it had clips from later episodes but they weren't finished yet so they just did fresh animation for them. Throughout the first season you can see events from the intro happening within episodes, but the animation is completely different.

Revisiting/showing off past locations and characters during the end credits is something that's way more common in video games.
See: Mother 2 and 3, Fallout New Vegas, Undertale, etc.

It's a shame because story-wise, it honestly wasn't that bad. Yeah it starts off really slow and is bogged down by filler episodes, but then again so was Beast Wars. In fact, I'd even go so far as to say that Armada did certain things better than BW i.e the turncoat character arc.

Sadly, all Armada will be remembered for is how rushed the whole thing was.

Actually they did have a lot of games released, they were either not advertised well, or weren't all that good, or didn't have the portability that Pokemon had (the Digimon World series was exclusively PS1 while Pokemon all had games on handhelds) They also didn't have a ton of merchandise and released during the Pokemon craze despite being created BEFORE them in Japan, so many children and parents assumed it was just a generic knock-off. The original Digimon stuff actually came out over here before Pokemon did, it's just that it never really took off. And when the show merchandise did make it over, all the electronic stuff was shitty gimped versions of the originals.

The first Pokémon intro was great but I wish they'd stop rehashing it so much to pander to non-existing fans.

Pokémon fans that are old enough to have been into it when the first intro was around have either moved on from the franchise, or are old enough to figure out how to watch the original Jap release months in advance with better VAs and an un-butchered soundtrack, and the nostalgia effect is lost on the little kids that would watch the dub on TV.

I don't know why they bothered to make 50 bajillion new intros after the first.
First intro got me fucking pumped. Everything since has just been some faggot wailing into the microphone. And they are all like 3 minutes long. And there's a 3 minutes summary before that. And then there's a 2 minutes "up next on One Piece" at the end. The episode is like 14 minutes long. And this is episodes of almost DBZ levels of shonen decompression.
No wonder the show lost me eventually.

Young Justice fell back on that for the second season.
I guess they didn't want to animate another 10 second overview of the main cast like they did for season 1.
It was mostly weird because suddenly they only showed the title with the last 2 tones of the title song and it was clear that they just ripped it out of the previous intro and slapped the name of the season on it.

This happened to great effect in a late episode of Jem and the Holograms.

It starts up with the standard "Jem Girls" season 3 opening. But then you hear "STOP!" and it cuts to Kimber, dressed for a concert, explaining that Jem is gone and things will never be the same again.

I love it, that show really wasn't afraid to mess with it's formula form time to time.
