I think I understand the defensiveness when topics like "privilege" come up... you feel like you're being attacked and told you're a bad person for having things easier than others. "White Guilt" and such.

But that's a mistake. Your feeling guilty is not actually the point. Nobody is trying to make you feel bad because, honestly, nobody really cares that much about your feelings.

The point of these discussions is to make people aware that these issues exist. To try and consider the perspectives of people in deeper shit than you are and maybe wonder if things could be different.

if the topic isn't open to discussion then a lot of people legitimately think poor people could become rich just by working as hard as they did.

Personally I'm still in favor of establishing a living wage for all citizens over 18 or independent, abolishing the minimum wage, abolishing bank bailouts in favor of bank customer bailouts, and encouraging better deals for business start-up loans. That should make upwards mobility more available.

Well here's the thing. Not only did the artist of that webcomic admit she made the whole thing up based on heresay, pretty much the only documented times anyone is ever able to come up with (one of them was even televised*) are when WOMEN are laughing at other women.

*Heroes of Cosplay. Admittedly it's a "reality" show so take that with a grain of salt, but still.

Been to a bunch of coventions and the answer is no. Sure there may be one guy who is creepy to one girl but theres always security, staff, and the occasional buff cosplayer to ask for help in getting the creeper takin care of. However, if your going to cosplay, have the right body and/or do the character right.
