To elaborate, after the events of Rick Potion, rick doesnt seem to give a flying fuck that he just doomed his daughter and her family as they jump into the next dimension, but then he does give a fuck about this new, not original family from the new universe in the finale of S2 enough to turn himself in? But it doesnt matter, becuase we arent supposed to be focused on that type of shit, but just the jokes and situations they get themselves in. They even pretty much say this with all of their 4th wall breaking stuff, especially the one in Rick Potion with the "we only get a few of these, Morty" line about replacing their dead selves.
