>>77012878>but if such a thing were applied to all animation, then cartoons really would be for just kids and the manchildren with no attention spans. He talks a lot of shit, but he can appreciate non-Clampett things. There were some threads a few years ago with screenshots going around of John prasing the likes Rebecca Sugar, Persepolis, and even some Anime.
He's said this a few times, but it's been drowned out by his vitriol. Something along the likes of "If you want non-cartoony animations, fine, but SOMEONE out there should be making cartoons." That's his outlook. He's just a really opinionated asshole, which on his blog, he has a right to be.
What I do agree with you on is that he's lazy. Infintely, irredeemably lazy and arrogant to boot. A person like that can really sour other people. It's no wonder why no one wants to work with him and people actually go out of their way to talk shit to him (deservedly).
And again, I do get the feeling he talked shit about something you like and gave no reasons to, which is something annoying he does.
And don't take this the wrong way, but from the way you talk it seems like you haven't really read up on him other than these vitriol threads on /co/. He's made posts about the importance of poses, acting, emotion and how all these things compliment each other to bring life to a cartoon. It comes off as }old timey because no one's doing it anymore, but he knows his cartoons at the very least. Either you've never actually seen his older work, or you have and can't really register anything more than "stretchy weirdness" from it.
Again, his one good, really influential cartoon doesn't justify everything else.
>>77012928>It's a sad modern notion that cartooniness isn't something adults would like.Oh, man I didn't catch that implication.
