This is what democracy has created, businesses which would rather operate out of the USA and other First World Countries but outsource as much of their labor as possible to cheap thirdworld countries that don't have trade unions or legislation that prevents human abuses.
So if the corporations want to lay off people to keep their absurd bottom lines (and it's the super massive ones that are the real problem) then they should pay a higher wage, and as per usual anyone who doesn't have a lot of money gets to suffer.
Social Welfare is not the problem, allowing assholes who have no greater ideal than "as much profit as fast as possible" to have free reign not just in business but in national policy is the problem.
Being fed, clothed, and sheltered are basic human rights and anyone who tells you otherwise considers you property to be bought and sold.
