Obama has been the President for the past six and half years yet we still do not have a MAJOR Black DC Hero from Marvel or DC despite Obama being heavily referenced and featured in comic books at the beginning of his campaign and Presidency. We do have Black Panther from Marvel and Cyborg from DC both of which have scheduled upcoming Movies.
However Marvel have indicated that it will change Black Panther in some way and noted Black Actors have come out and said that there would be not need for a Black director. Really? Just think about it a second. If they do Black Panther right and are faithfull to the source material then there would be enough Blacks on set to make a Tarzan Movie (stolen from SAS :)
How would it look for a white person to direct an all Black film. But something tells me that Black Panther will not be mostly Black. I believe that Marvel will change it up and make Wakanda an interracial society.
Has far as Cyborg goes he of course is not as popular as the Black Panther and depending on if and when there is a Batman or Superman movie scheduled Cyborg's first Movie could be pushed back or cancelled all together. Also a majority of Blacks live by the one black rule where they feel like there should be only one Black per whatever be it Movies, or TV that represents the Black Community and in Comics Black Panther is the one and so alot of Blacks go around bad mouthing Cyborg jsut for that reason alone.
I also want to give my opinion on the Black Man White Women coupling in comics. My God!! there is all there is!! I guess the writer and editors in comics think they are being Progressive by showing this but they're not. how are you being progressive if you are only showing one half of the equation? Except for Mal and Karen in Teen Titans I know of zero Black couples in comics. Storm and black Panther doesn't count because that was obviously forced.
