There're degrees of convolution though.

Even if the exact details of continuity is all over the place due to decades of activity, characters like Superman and Batman are very straight forward.
Their motives, origins, and personalities have been set in stone for 30+ years.

Even if one arc here or there messes things around, they always return to the core character. This is true for even characters like Wolverine, whose literal continuity is as convoluted as it comes. But he's still a hairy man with knuckle claws, a bad attitude, and an origin that involves being weaponized.

That's pretty much all of them of a certain age

Hey remember that time Bruce killed the god of evil, was sent spiraling back in time to the dawn of man, then jumped forward in time placing the mythological concept of the bat into the human subconscious. This would ultimately influence him into choosing his mantle in the first place. Thereby being his own lightning bolt so to speak. Also he became Batman after getting getting shamanistic bat healing dreams.

Pretty much everything about Kang the Conqueror.
It's so convoluted that wikipedia and the Marvel wiki lists his different incarnations (Iron Lad, Kid Immortus, Rama-Tut, Kang, Scarlet Centurion and Immortus) as seperate characters.
And then there's all the "divergent Kang". Or the Kang cosplayers in the Council of Kangs
Or that time Immortus, who is Kang from the future, pretended to be Kang from the past.
Avengers Forever tried to make sense of things but only made things more confusing

I hate convoluted stuff and characters however... I love how Hawkman's mythos just incorporates that. Like no one even knows who he is or where he came form anymore, they just say "fuck it" to whole ordeal.

But this is my problems with aliens in comics because adding aliens ALWAYS convolutes the plot unless it's a sci-fi thing set in the future obviously.

That's not that complicated since in the end it didn't change his origin too much, a weirder thing would be like Batman at some point in his history discovers that he was just actually some orphan kid that was picked up by Alfred after witnessing the Wayne family getting gunned down child and all then he was put under some form of hypnosis to take up Bruce's identity. See that's the sort of character destroying retcon and overcomplication that wrecks characters for decades

A living weapon engineered by some asshole from the future called Harvest as part of his plan to prevent/win a war in the future that's betweem humans and metahumans and kills trillions. That's not even the dumbest part of Harvest's plan, but the point is, he recently killed a LOT of people and is now handing himself over to Harvest (Who died at the end of Lobdell's first run of the Titans). It's dumb, nonsensical, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot of details because I'm only posting what I've seen of his backstory in Teen Titans

It's Stan Lee, he clearly didn't put much thought into it. Worst part is he just wouldn't let go of this stupid idea and would keep referencing it.
Later writers just had Kang be Doom's possible descendant, but then John Byrne retconned it into being Nathaniel Richards's descendant (meaning he's related to Reed).
But then later writers said it's still unknown because RETCONS. All we know for sure is that Kang's real name is also Nathaniel Richards

Okay, I agree with that. But you're jumping back to the origin rather than the continuity built around it. Which is what the thread pertains to. If one includes Zero Hour as being part of Hawkman's origin, you have to concede Final Crisis into Batman's.

Donna Troy's very existince is a mistake.
Bob Haney wanted more characters for Teen Titans, so he added Wonder Girl, completely unaware of the fact that Wonder Girl isn't Diana's sidekick, but Diana as a teenager that only shows up in flashbacks and time travel stories.
Later writers have struggled with giving her an origin ever since

I mean the fact that she and her brother are even on the same team means there's character interactions that must've happened off-panel or are going ignored entirely and that's already not a good sign.

The problem was DC felt it was time for the kid heroes to be teens and the teen heroes to be adults.

And it sucked all the fun out of the kid heroes as a result... Who was over all responsible I'm not sure but it couldn't have been a one man decision.

Blame Bob Harras. Bob Harras think, because of their time together at Marvel during the 90's, that Scott Lobdell is great for teen characters or "egdy" 20-something characters. Since he wanted the "young" heroes to be like the X-Men line from that time he gave all the books to Lobdell and told him to write that way.

So Teen Titans became X-Force, Superboy became Cable, Red Hood and the Outlaws was pretty much the more "extreme" version of it in the vein YoungBlood and so on.

It's just staggering.

And when ever it hits a good groove they find a way to muck it up. It's the one book you'd want to get right and it's almost as if the ball is constantly dropped on purpose. The worst part is that Tim doesn't have a solo book after about 25 years... I feel like I've lost an old friend because I can't take reading Titans at this point.

Also shocked we haven't gotten a new Outsiders book yet given that the last one more or less ran straight for 10 years.

That's literally the point of Titans Hunt.

It just exists to retcon NTT so far up our asses until quotes from it start pouring out of our mouths.
Because that's the only thing they know what to do with the Teen Titans. Go back to New Teen Titans and hope people buy it out of nostalgia and ignore how bad it really is.

Ravagers wouldn't be better with more characters. It would actually be worse. Ravagers was an awful book with a terrible premise. WE DON'T NEED ANYTHING INVOLVING HARVEST OR THE CULLING. Seriously, that's the most awful and stupid character i've seen since the 90's. The cross-over was terrible and having all the teen characters be guilt-ridden survivors of that stupid shit is awful.
