They could have fleshed out the Hiccup-Astrid relationship a bit.

She went from finding Hiccup a pathetic beta, to a montage where she began despising him, and after one dragon ride, suddenly she wanted to make art using his pencil.

Did she like him all along but had to suppress her urges due to the stigma that Hiccup carried? Do dragon hides contain a pussy magnet pheromone that only works when said pheromone ebbs off humans?

From what I gathered, Astrid didn't give one iota of a fuck about Hiccup or men in general because MUH WARRIOR WOMAN FIGHTAN SKILLS MUST TRAIN NAO NO TIME FOR SECKS IS A MANS' WORLD IMA GONNA BE THE BEST BITCH AT KILLAN DRAGENS

I agree OP, the HTTYD series is one of my all time favorites
I even like the show a lot even if it is a bit more childish than the movies are

There was a severe lack of dragon-focused shows and movies for a long time, Im glad something finally filled the niche because they were my favorite fantasy animal as a kid

The animation is also breathtaking, especially in the sequel

There's a deleted scene between the two before Hiccup met Toothless. It's not much and still doesn't help the development of their "relationship", but at least they spoke every so often... maybe...

They did have that deleted scene where Astrid was disinterested in him until she found his blueprints for dragon hunting equipment.
