God I hate demon retcons. If a character is a mutant, they're a mutant, if they're mystical, they're mystical. But no, writers who are two far up their own asses have to put their own new 'shocking' spin on well established characters, destroying the work of the very people they tend to claim they were fans of, just to leave their own little territorial markings in the Marvel universe.

Me, I'd retcon Wolverine Origins in it's entirety. Nothing to see here folks! It was all an illusion created by that Romulus nutjob for... Loeb reasons... reasons we are not privy to.

Also the nonsense about Puck really being the cursed vessel of a Jin rather than just a really athletic midget. A bit obscure I suppose. Alpha Flight fans don't like to talk about it.

Was it just under the title 'Wolverine' when the James Howlett stuff was revealed? I think I keep lumping it in with the other book in my mind because the title 'Wolverine Origins' makes a lot more sense that way. lol

The Bishop who murderered billions of people in his attempts to kill Hope wasn't the real Bishop. He was a Bishop from an alternate timeline where "Hope ruined everything" that replaced original Bishop.
The original Bishop, the one from a world where Onslaugth killed the X-Men (seriously, how the hell did writers screw up Bishop's origin?), returns and kills the other one. He's offended that nobody noticed how different the other Bishop's history and motivation was.
Bishop has more blood on his hands than any hero other than Namor. It's because of this that no writer wants to touch him, they have to fix this.

Man, every time I like a character, they're too obscure to come back from the dead. (with the exception of a character coming back from the dead purely due to creative teams forgetting a character died)

I think they could go in that direction to a degree, but they would still be feared due to the wildcard factor of the occasional new mutant accidentally killing people when their powers first manifest.

I remember there being a time when Mutants weren't universally hated in the MU, rather people were divided with there being plenty of normal people on their side. It's a shame so much of Marvel's creative staff take a more ham fisted approach to what should be a complicated and many layered social and political issue in universe.

Everyone in the MU is aware of the existince of aliens.
If any writer ever tries doing a scene like pic related again, the editor punches him in the face.
I can understand having characters not believe in magic though (they can rationalize it as thinking it's aliens or mutants)

It's weird how Marvel would rather have Storm telepathically lobotomize Bishop than just make Messiah Complex and forward version of Bishop being a nutty time travel variant of him while the "real" one was elsewhere.

Personally I just always liked the fact that there was more to Puck than being a really agile midget. The mysticism bit was also pretty cool. And it's always fun when some magic or time travel shenanigans turns him into a full sized guy again and he's clumsy as fuck due to being so used to being midget sized.

The Bishop retcon fix in this thread is really good.

And of course I'd agree retconning away James Manlet would require a larger story to justify it. Would still like to see that happen. I mean, Romulus was mindfucking Logan, so what is Romulus and how much of Logan's recent back story could just be nonsense?

Others here have only stated that there are things they'd like to see retconned, but without suggesting how. Maybe try posting your own ideas or be a little more specific regarding which posts you are responding to?
