The devil won. He wanted Peter and MJ's marriage and he got it. No comeuppance, no continuation. Just a retcon that included Dr. Strange. And for what? To make Peter seem younger and spit in the face of Mayday fans?

Not to mention it completely ruins most stories in hindsight. Here's a question, why did GG kill Gwen Stacy? Sins Past is now the only reason he did.

Let's be real here it would be full delusion to think that 616 Mayday would end up like MC2.

Also anon as explained the magic didn't change reality and make it so Peter had never taken his mask off. It made it so that everyone who did no him forgot about that fact.

That's why when he took of his mask for the FF they all went.
