>>77064974Most of it, but I'll sum up my main grievances.
- Classic Sci-fi screw up when they reveal too much of a mysterious civilization to the point that it is ruined, half the fun of these is the speculation by you the clueless audience.
Main reason why the first Halo was so magical, you knew little about the structure you were fighting over with a different race, but everything you did know made you feel small and aware of something far larger than you.
- A classic underdog tale for character and race, Masterchief and Humanity, managing to stave off extinction by a much larger force through grit, courage and much sacrifice.
Now totally undermined by goddamn JUSTASPLANNED destiny chosen-one bullshit.
I hate the MUH DESTINY cliche most of all, real heroes struggle on with no sure assurance that what they will do will succeed or even matter.
Not to mention that its sort of Fascistic to say that only a small percentage of people can matter in the scheme of things. Tyranny and evil is stopped by the bakers, clerks and fishermen of the world, or so thought. The Spartan Program was interesting ethically because it challenged this thought by stopping a great threat only by beating qualities into children. This could have been really well done, but 343 made Halsey Hitlerlite and any discussion is shafted.
Also fuck the bullet-sponge Prometheans, never has there been a more unsatisfying enemy to fight.
