It's amusing to see how hard Marvel dropped the ball with this event. They sold it like the event to define all events, and now barely anyone still cares, hell not even Marvel cares anymore as they almost treat it as if it never happened in ANAD.

I don't understand why they tried to have a single artist for eight issues bimonthtly. That's fucking absurd.

Infinity's was a snoozefest, but with three artists on board, all working together nicely, it at least mantained its intended schedule. Why don't do that again? Put artists that have a similar tone like Ribic on it, like Ferry.

I guess Marvel's editors really are fucking retards.

It'll be looked at better in retrospect. I mean everyone was going apeshit for it when it first started but the delays have killed all the hype and without the main book it became hard to be excited or even keep up with all the different SW side-stories.

ANAD launching before it was over definitely did not help either.

Old Man Logan was a nearly perfect contained story, it neither needed nor warranted a further story. And then not only did they do that, they made it a boring and awful battleworld tour. This whole event was originally supposed to be consistently bimonthly, and then end the week before the new Issue 1's were to start releasing. This shit has been delayed multiple times over the summer.

It had great tie-ins something that don't happen often but since they are all locked for 4 issues stories it means that while they have great concept they would never be delivered really well.

I enjoyed more that I thought I would!

In terms of quality, it's a step up over the usual event. Hickman had a plan for this (as he never tires of reminding us) and the writers and artists are clearly having fun doing the tie-ins instead of being forced into them at gunpoint.

On the other hand it comes off as a little self-indulgent, both on Hickman's part and the other writers, who get to play What-If for a few months.

But then the thing that's often considered the best thing about Hickman, that he plays the long game and pays off story points years after he sets them up, is something I don't really care for. It's made his Avengers run feel like years of people standing around talking about things that haven't happened yet, and the payoff can never be big enough for all that setup.

Exactly, if you like What If and alternate universe stories, and a lot of people do, you'll like a lot of this event. I tend to prefer seeing writers forced to stick to the history of the characters, because that's so much of the appeal of Marvel comics. But that's personal taste.

(Funny enough I have no problem with DC doing out-of-continuity stories. The "imaginary story" produced some of DC's best stuff all the way through All-Star Superman. But at Marvel, I somehow feel like if a story isn't in continuity it doesn't quite count.)
