>>77074830>What I have a problem with is people saying you DO have to like and approve of it.And I, as a gay guy, also have a problem with this. Nobody should be forced to support something and nobody should become a social pariah for voicing opinions. I mean the whole point of the episode was being too supportive is wrong as well.
>Like if they made a cure for homosexuality, and I know people would protest it.Yeah, they probably would. People protest for a lot of dumb reasons. I also know that there would be plenty of gay people who went for it because they don't want to deal with the hassle of being gay and people treating you differently.
>If you all didn't know the X-men were created to be an allagory to gays. So yea, in our culture we have compared being gay to having superpowers.I was aware of that, though I think that might have been more about the persecution angle rather than the powers, and super powers was just the most appropriate analogy to use in a comic books medium
All in all, I don't think being gay is something to be proud of or ashamed of. It's just the way some people are. The fact is the west is getting more and more progressive and there's little you or I can do about. As long as people remain civil, keep dialogue open, and nobody is shouted down or bullied, then that's all we can hope for.
