Its both equal. There are shit capeshit and than there shit funny.
For especially the weaker Uderzo run could be compared to a weaker run of xyz series.

If you had wrote "They should read it too, because it has modern parody, funny dialoges, etc. .." than i would agree.

Uderzo was kinda unsure how to continue.
Maybe its because of his age or that he is mostly a artist, took long time to finish new stories.
You missed 4 books.
2 short strips.
And 2 full stories. One last by Uderzo (Not bad but not as good as the Ones before, more a hate speech of animes.)

When Goscinny died Asterix should have died. So should Lucky Luke. The best writer in BD. Raoul Cauvin is number 2. The best Spirou series in the 70s he wrote. He still write the Bluecoats.

The last volumes I really loved were Asterix and the Black Gold and Obelix and Co. That had a parody of a YOUNG Jacques Chirac.
