But, after AvX when Storm defected to Logan's side, Bendis decided to develop her into a strong opponent of Scott's "revolution". With Logan now dead and Beast heavily compromised by the O5/Illuminati shit, Storm's the only one who has the leadership potential, A-list status and moral high ground to serve as the mouthpiece for shitting on Scott.
If something happened to her, it would devolve to Bobby. Bendis already set him up as unreasonably angry at Scott.
