A good cquestion. Out of all the avengers Hulk and Thor seem the least buddy buddy. I just don't see it working and it's like they are hoping hype alone will push the movie. But storybwise it's very I'll advise with no set up.
I'm a big hulk and Thor fan but damn I hate the MCU for what they are doing to them.

Thor is a great guest character, and Hulk is a great guest character. Stories where someone goes to Thor's world and teams up with him are always asinine fish out of water jokefests.

The title of "Ragnarok" implies a darker movie, but by describing it as a "buddy" movie it sounds like it's gonna be even more shallow than Thor 2, which is saying something.

I really regret watching Thor 2 and I don't think I'll be making that mistake again.

this is all Das Maus's fault. if they didn't keep fucking with copyright laws to keep Mickey in their clutches then most of these characters would have fallen into public domain years ago.

The original script was supposed to be really dark. Now that they got rid of the team oversight and only have Feige, I wonder if he will allow something darker than they are used to. It will still have comedy, of course, but they may be willing to have a darker tone anyway.

Thor as played lacks presence. Angry Thor just feels like an angry dude rather than a pissed off god.
appealing to Clarke's law to minimise the pagan-ness of the MCU.
Most of Thor's enemies are meant to be on a higher threat level than what the avengers can handle, yet the villains come across more like a monster of the week.
Jane Foster isn't a very compelling character
of all the Asgardians, only Thor, Odin, and Loki are allowed any meaningful screentime

on the other hand I legit liked Dark World because Darcy is amusing and Loki was funny

Thing is, BRB is a perfect character and story to fit into an MCU movie. You introduce him in dark lighting and have him fight Thor, then when he picks it up the scene brightens and you see he's not really a monster. A few battle quips I'm fine with.

You know, I'm really baffled how the MCU can feel so cramped when they are about to enter a slate of 3 movies a year. I mean, Hydra seems to be the only real super villain group that can be used on a whim for stories, and it feels that everything has to go back to SHIELD or one of the six Avengers. It seems like they are getting too many actors and not enough films. Maybe Infinity Wars needs to wipe out a good chunk of the heroes.
