I think I recognized the issue with Disney's handling of Star Wars. You know how the EU was mocked for being fan fiction nonsense. But if you look at what was shat on, it was always shit like Boba Fetts lost family or what Han Solo did growing up or whatever, the actually uniquely developed stories with there own settings and journeys, stuff like Kotor, Tales of the Jedi, and the Legacy Comics were all accalimed.

Hell, even the Prequels gave us a great playground for Genndy Wars and the later TCW seasons.

Disney is just shamelessly playing on the OT,they aren't building there own era connected to the overall saga but just CPing episodes 4 through 6. Same factions, same aesthetics, hell they even went fully recursive on the OT itself. The Jedi are STILL a losr legend? Anot Death Star?

All the OT fetishism is just holding them back from making a true new piece of the saga instead of a DTV sequel to the OT.

If Ostrander can due a sequel series without indulgently ripping off the OT, why cant Abams.

It's not like they HAVE to wank the Ot either, it's Star Wars, the prequels are bemoaned but they still made billions, Disney could shit on a film and make a billion, they don't have the micromanage,

for gods sake, they even told the Rebels staff to make the fight choreography worse to match the OT.
