I think that they're good with putting them into words, but the worldviews are painfully simplistic and boil down to a painful poseurship. I don't get the desire to act out autosuggestion and simultaneously behave as if some grand narrative is being revealed. I see no point in insisting that the very act of living and creating somehow alters the world in a sense a spell would.

It's especially jarring when reading Moore's "running in the gutters like lightning" or what's it titled essay about magick in that magazine of his, he makes himself look like a desperate simpleton. I mean, he comes off as a sort of person jumping you in the supermarket and saying that you just performed a ritual when you opened that refrigerator.

(and in that refrigerator of course lives another hipster deity that he has access to).

I love that anecdote about Moore and Niel Gaiman; they're at a restaurant and Moore describes in vivid detail one of the murder scenes in From Hell. Gaiman is so disgusted he goes outside to vomit, and Moore has a chuckle over "the master of horror" throwing up in a gutter.

Moore is a cunt, but if I ever made a comic even half as good as Miracleman or whatever, I'd basically be sure I was some kind of genius.

But Morrison loves capitalism. I mean, he has his issues with it because he's a nice social democrat type, but he's basically fine with, say, comic book companies fucking over creators because "oh it becomes the modern mythology which exists on different dream dimensions." I say this as a fan of the man's work.

Moore treats comics like a medium. Morrison treats comics like a genre. They'll never get along because they have fundamentally different outlooks on comics.

This is also why the best Morrison comics pale in comparison even to Moore's experiments, such as, say, The Bowing Machine.
