>>6506849I like how you're underestimating them.
Laharl is cocky, quick-tempered and self-entitled, yeah. But you forget he's also petty, tyrannical, egotistical, bossy, arrogant while being unable to take care of his own castle.
As for Etna, you forgot to mention that she tried to kill Laharl probably twice, and confessed she'd like to murder him a lot more. She also make her slaves work 20 hours a day.
To give
>>6506775 an idea of her relations : during Disgaea 2, Laharl steals Etna's pudding, which cause her to quit working for him. In retaliation, Laharl attacks her several times during the story, while admitting he's been living on canned tuna for days after she left. He finally join your team when he's promised three meals a day. Oh yeah, and Flonne tried to fix things, but was useless.
It doesn't help that the whole morale system is completely reversed in the Disgaea games, a good demon is a total asshole by our standards. So by these standards, these two lunatics are perfect demons. And Etna trying to murder Laharl is considered normal. I think the term is "comedic sociopathic".
The Disgaea games are interesting because beside these girls, there are also female characters who are basically filler but could stand in the spotlight too if needed. Too bad we'll never get a game where we walk around in the castle and spank the girls to make them level up.
