>>6484979in my twisted experience it's usually folly to have an open deterrent. my logic is as follows.
anyone deterred by an openly exposed weapon is not the truly nasty character, and the truly nasty character is what is going to be the biggest threat.
i think its better to have nothing openly revealed, as if they see something they are going to take steps to counter it, and more importantly, will be more determined / prepared.
if someone goes for me i want them confident, because then they will not be expecting a knife, and its the hit they fail to see coming that has the biggest chance of doing the job.
and besides, knives are nasty vicious things, necessary sure but still nasty. if i am meeting with someone in your context then i am thinking of getting intimate with them, and having a visible blade would really kill the mood, if all goes well then they need never know i was packing, if it goes bad then they don't see it coming. also knives escalate, i would sooner take a beating, then pull a knife when my life is not in real immediate danger(and i have).
>If they find your behavior strange then be up front about having a history of violencei come here every so often and chat, but i am probably way too scared to get involved, it looks cool and i would probable get a lot out of it, but whatever, life is full of things that can never be.
>be up front about having a history of violencefair enough.
for the record i have never hurt anyone who did not hurt me, or was in the process of trying to hurt me, i am no thug.
question, if you feel like answering. how hard is it to break someone who does not intend to break.
every year at my uni they have a big fetish ball, and one of the demonstrations is getting a volunteer to beg for mercy or quit. that's something that interests me immensely, pride is my vice, and i would love to see what would happen to me if it was broken, however i don't really have any interest in the sex aspects.
