Fixing them shouldnt change much as for their hunting abilities. You want to fix them, or youll end up with a million cats, instead rats, like I mentioned above about this. Rat problem turns into cat problem.

My brother lived in baltimore for a while and when it rained, the rats would come from the hood and hide under his porch. This thing set off like every two hours. Kills rats dead.

Cats are useless shits for anything but a few rodents. They are too lazy to hunt rats as they are almost as agile as cats, so cats will settle for reptilians and birds instead.
I'd do the bulk of them with zinc phosphide poison baits as those are safer in terms of secondary poisoning.

Run cheap rat traps in parallel on enclosed spots. Check them daily so the others can't feed off of the carcasses.
