Javascript exploits are still plentiful, and are very easily blocked by MSE.

Get them from rogue ads, or from loading random blogs and site by clicking on google images etc etc.

Sure you can block scripts until you explicitly want them, but people like OP dont do that shit

Generally, they get the "your computer needs to restart to install updates" box, and they ignore it, and then they get zero-dayed by an exploit that requires no user interaction.

Typically one that lands in their inbox, and renders as HTML in Outlook, or is a real Office document that exploits a vuln. in Office that they haven't updated either.

And once you've got one bit of malware, it'll invite all its friends to the party.

Guys I'm trying to make my first knife. I have this 300mm x 25mm with 6mm thickness steel bar. Since I want to make it with scandi grind, and stock is a bit to thick, is it possible to make it an acceptable cutter? Should I go with full flat grind instead?

(OP here) my knife has a 12 cm handle and a 14.5 cm blade. The steel has a thickness of 6mm and a width of 30mm. I'm not sure either what steel it is. Your design looks good but i'm afraid your steel isn't wide enough.

dont even bother. use it sometime you need a bit of steel for a brace, or a hinge mounting, or something.

go buy some proper carbon steel so you know what you're using, before you waste all the time shaping it.

yeah, i don't know why they think this, either. If you're going to just etch or route something...sure. But anything complicated means tool changes, feed speed rates, g code, usually machine customization, etc. I just tell them the same thing every time - got to cnczone and see if you still want to "make a CNC" before you have ever welded, punched, formed, drilled anything in your life.

i have never used stick welding for copper but i have used oxy acetylene. it will turn cherry red,dc current. it is like any other metal the cleaner the better. and yes if you are not good at it the puddle will drop on your foot or if in a pipe on your balls. sometimes you just have to man up. there are only a couple people who can keep up with me. my welding heat and speed are on the fine line between damn and oops.

At least use materials that won't rust and get nasty. Stainless hardware (304 or 18-8) is not that expensive, even low volume from McMaster-Carr.

I'm wanting to build a small outdoor attachment off my shop to house my compressor in. I'm going to pour a cement slab and then build off of that. I'm doing this so save space but mostly to hide the noise of it while I'm working.

I'm thinking of using 3/4 plywood for the body and then installing 1/2 foam board to the inside of the structure. Is there any better way to sound proof the box?

It will be different in that there will be less air surrounding it for cooling and nowhere for that heat to go. You will want to provide air vents at the bottom and top of your enclosure to allow the heat to escape. Baffles on the vents will help to mitigate the noise. Heat is the enemy of all things mechanical and electrical.

has some useful info. Also a search for "ductwork noise reduction" will lead to many commercial products you might copy.

You may have to force feed the cooling air. An indoor/outdoor remote thermometer mounted in your enclosure can help to determine this. Don't forget to use rubber isolation between the compressor unit and your slab. This ain't really my line of work, but I hope this helps steer you to success.
