Polyurethane Problems

No.894039 ViewReplyReportDelete
I found this dope piece of furniture in front of the dumpster at some condos near my house. I looked closely and realized that it wasn't particle board, but poplar. So I stripped it and stained it to match my other furniture (adding the shelves underneath so that it can be used as a shoe rack so my wife wouldn't make me throw it away), then I put on two coats of polyurethane.

For some reason, the polyurethane is doing this weird thing I've never seen it do before (pic to come in next post). Anybody have any experience with this? It hasn't done this on pine, treated pine, or red oak.

Stolen bike engine

No.891962 ViewReplyReportDelete
Hi guys,
somebody just stole the engine off my bike today in Tucson, AZ. The bike wasn't stolen and the locks were fine; but the thief casually disassembled the engine in broad daylight, next to a huge parking lot with a lot of traffic.

The motorized bike community isn't too big in the US (or in AZ, for that matter), so if anyone sees a black bike engine for sale, please post any info you got. May I also add that a used motorized bike is basically worthless, it's not even expensive new (120$); but it requires a shit-ton of work and breaking in.

Any help or info would be appreciated,
Thanks

Hello /diy/,

What's the best way to minimize asbestos exposure when splicing an asbestos-insulated wire?

I've taken the den in my basement down to studs, and uncovered this god awful splice. The wire runs to my detached garage, buried 4ft and encased in concrete in some parts, so simply replacing it isn't really an option.

I'm running a new circuit up to this point, where I'll join the two in a junction box, but I'd rather not release asbestos if at all possible.

How do?

I'm not really good at reading these, so maybe anyone can help me out.

What's the distance between the two red lines? Or what could it be? I can't really figure it out...

(length in mm preferred...)
