Also interested in construction and crafting. So im interested in making a closet. Similiar in the pic. Any tips on newbies? Just looking for something to do with my hands stead of jacking off to cows... I know some stuff about types of nails and hinges. But for this project i just want it to be fire resistant.

That's a chieftains As to getting started, look up videos on joinery. Just so you know, wood working is an expensive hobby. Tools are expensive, there are countless chisels and saws. There's also several power tools that are quite useful, such as a router and circular saw. And you'll need squares. There are also several table based tools that are quite useful, such as a table saw and drill press. And clamps. Not only that, but lumber is expensive, even if you made something like this out of pine it's going to cost you at least $80, if you use something like oak you can expect to at least triple that. And if fire resistance is something you're really looking for, woods not the place to look. Not trying to discourage you, wood working is very rewarding, but it's a challenging hobby to get into. The things you make are going to be sub par at first, it's expensive, it's time consuming, and it requires a lot of patience. If you're dead set, look up joints. For something like your pic look up Mortise and tenon Box/Finger Rabbet Butt Stiles and rails

So i bought this "Brand" name cordless drill about five years ago. As it was around 30 $, i did not expect anything spectacular. And while it worked, it was grate. But after few months of using it, i noticed that battery drains it self very fast. Regardless if you wore using it or not. After the inspection i noticed that it can not hold any load. i tried reviving it. it did not help. so i searched for a replacement. it cost from 15 $ for flimsy shit china could offer to a ±45 $ which was too expensive. so i went on ebay, ordered some elements. total cost was arround 10 $. and if the mAh is correct, double the capacity. more in the video :

>>892954 Yes you can, but you have to take it apart and check all the cells, then replace the defective cells.
I worked at Batteries Plus for a couple years, and would do this all the time.

>>893235 Youd preferably want to replace all the cells at the same time. I dont remember how internal resistance effects ni-cd cells, but with some other types, that could be a problem. Old vs new would probably have quite a diff in internal resistance.
>>893286 Ive heard of this. How well it works though, not sure. Howd yours hold up anon?
I would probably go about replacing the ni-cd cells with ni-mh, then sourcing a charger that could charge the "refurbished" pack. Possibly put a jack in the pack (if theres room) for easier charging, vs using something like jumpers with alligator clips

>>893311 > How well it works though, not sure. Howd yours hold up anon? in the vast majority of cases, the zapped cells will short again within weeks. zapping batteries appears to work great for a little while, but soon you realize it was a waste of time.

>QUESTIONS THAT DON'DON'T DESERVE THEIR OWN THREAD Old one reached bump limit, so I'll start a new one beginning with a question of my own. I want to paint my metal exterior (front) door. I have some left over paint and primer in one, interior (probably answers my question right there) acrylic latex paint. After sanding the door a bit, would this adhere to the door, and if so would it hold up alright? Or should I just say fuck it and buy some exterior paint for it?

I just found a shitload in an old headboard. You would never know by looking at it but I moved it away from the wall and found a colony hiding in screw holes and around crevices. Got rid of that shit and I haven't seen many since. Vacuum the box springs all over. I put some clear masking tape around the underside and corners of my box spring and alot of them got stuck to it and died.

OP, hire a guy to come in and eradicate them. Diatomaceous earth and water catchers under the posts of your bed might be effective sometimes, but if I were you I'd get an exterminator. Do it nice or do it twice. Don't fuck around with bedbugs.

Hey /diy/ first-timer here with a simple issue. You see, I have a bit of an anger issue at times and elbowed my wall, leaving a bit of a crater. Can anybody teach me how to fix it, or what I'll need? Just a kid trying to get out of some mischief.

If you want someone to walk you through a repair this easy just go to a hardware store and tell them you need to fix a hole in some goddamn drywall. Any other human knows how to do this. You're going to have to go to a store anyway to get the materials, so why don't you save yourself some fucking time an ask there.

Cut and grind only with water flowing over your work. The water will stop dust from floating in the air. Google "wet tile saw" for example, or "glass saw"

> Be me, living in Germany > Having a group of 10 friends > Buying an old, unroadworthy caravan for 350 Euros > Getting a piece of leased land from one of our grandparents where we may put it We wanted to renovate the caravan, paint it and rebuild the interior, so we could have a place to chill, celebrate or be alone from time to time. Now, after three or four months, the "Landschaftsschutzbeauftragter" in our town (the fussy guy hired to protect the landscape) requires the caravan to be removed because of reasons - although it is placed between trees like 100 meters away from the next road and can hardly be seen. However, we need ideas what to do with it! Problems: - The caravan can't really be moved, it is placed on a slope, in the meantime it got a flat tire and it is not approved to travel on a street. - We don't have a power supply near the caravan. - We don't have an other plot of land to put it onto at the moment. What would you do with an old caravan if you had one? What would you do with it in that situation? If we decided to crush and dispose it due to lack of alternatives, is there anything we should watch out for? Thanks!

>>893098 I seriously think that this man oversteps his limits by far. Maybe he thinks that you and your friends will be a problem (drinking, noise) and tries to scare you off because "hurr, they're dumb kids, they know nothing about laws".
Its private land, leased but still private. Its a non-permanent building so he even cant fuck you with a Baugenehmigung.

Any other anons here blacksmiths? I'd like to know what kind of forge you have, particularly if you made it yourself. Same goes with anvils. What kind of area do you live in? I live in the borderline ghetto and would like to get some ideas on where I can actually do some forging without dipshits calling the fire department or something.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>892768 Generally, unless you pay extra, steel will come in normalized or annealed form, which shouldn't be too difficult to cut. That being said, anvils are large, so you will be wearing out inserts just due the sheer size in addition to the hardness. It likely won't be very worth it money-wise as compared to buying a used anvil. But if you want to do it just to do it, don't let me stop you. Lots of stuff I did back in machining school was probably not worth it from a strictly time/money standpoint, but was fun and educational.

Ordered a whitlox wood fired forge today. Need to sort out anvil... seems blacksmithing and knifemaking are very popular now. Anvils are like $4/lb on ebay! I'm going to try to find something suitable from a scrap yard or mold+die shop, maybe 30-80 lb. I plan on making helicopter rotors and wristwatches. Just kidding. Pointy O1 for wood cutting. Hallo, I would like to know how to use this. As far as i know is a rod bracket for curtains, but what about those curves, i mean they fit no wall or anything else around my home... I would like to use them, but i need some feedbakc about a good use
Anonymous
Quoted By:
The curve on the right is for the curtain rod. There is a set screw to prevent it from slipping or falling off. The bracket on the left seems to be bent inwards. Try straightening it outwards until the ears are flush with the wall.
Anonymous
>>892383 The curve is for a "dowel rod" which is just a long cylindrical-shaped piece of wood that can be bought at most hardware stores.
The diameter is probably 2.5 inches but you will have to measure yourself.
